Alec Fraser Fund - $220 - November 2, 2009

Hi, Thanks to you guys we raised $220 for Alec Fraser in the month of OCT. If you don't know Alec Fraser, he is a veteran blues, rock and country bass player and vocalist. He has played... with Jeff Healey, Danny Marks, Ben E. King, Bo Diddley...the list goes on. He has also won multiple Juno and Maple Blues awards for his productions. Most of all, Alec is a genuinely good guy and a respected musician. Alec co- wrote & engineered our new CD RED HOT and played on the track "Wake Up", he also gave us great guidance during the recording sessions in Jack de Keyzer's studio. Alec has a rare infection (MRSA) that is putting his life and health in jeopardy, Sharron & I attended the Oct 19th fundraiser @ The Silver Dollar. They raised alot of $$$ for Alec in his time of need, there is another fundraiser @ Roc N Docs in Port Credit tonight...the support keeps rolling on. All the best Alec and get well very soon!

MRSA infection is caused by Staphylococcus aureus bacteria — often called "staph." MRSA stands for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. It's a strain of staph that's resistant to the broad-spectrum antibiotics commonly used to treat it. MRSA can be fatal.

The Cat in The Hat ruled, we had to give him a prize!
The Band was dressed as The Reservoir Dogs , I was Mr. Pink (Pete), Josh was Mr. White, Chris was Mr. Blonde and Andrew was Mr. Brown (he died early ;) The Cops and EMS closed out the night! 911 Relay @ Alley catz - Fantastic turn out! Fire/Police/EMS - October 22, 2009

Thank you very much for supporting the 911 relay. Firefighters, EMS and Police fought it out for the Chocolate Cup. The Firefighters needed 1 more to complete the team of 6 and me being a Toronto Firefighter I stepped in and completed the team…after much eating of Chocolate and 2 events each the tag teams raised $$$ for Prostate & Breast Cancer research initiatives for Princess Margaret Hospital and a portion of the proceeds from The Chocolate Ball are in support of The Ava Rose Fund at Sick Kids Hospital…so a fantastic turn out and a lot of fun. By the way…we won! The Toronto Firefighters hold the Chocolate cup title for 2009…buuurrrppppp. Excuse me :)

Toronto Blues Society – CD Review – Oct 2009 issue - October 4, 2009

Toronto Blues Society – CD Review – Oct 2009 issue - John Valenteyn - http://www.torontobluessociety.com
The Blazers - Red Hot - Route Records

This group of veteran players have been working together for six years (they were previously known as The Jukes) and they style their music as “kick ass rockin’ blues”. Pete Cohan is the singer; Josh Gordan’s on guitar, Chris Craig is on drums and Andrew Taylor plays bass. They have some famous friends: Jack de Keyzer produced this disc and added guitar on 5 songs, Al Lerman guests on harp & sax throughout, David McMorrow guests on keys and Alec Fraser recorded the proceedings. With good material, this is a guaranteed recipe for success in my opinion. They have the material, much of it written by Cohan & Gordon. Cohan is a very good singer, switching easily from the rocking blues of “Flavour of the Year” to the soul sound of “I Love You, Eternally” to the slow blues “Never Gonna Cry Again” or the funky, Stones-ish “Wake Up”. “The King’s Highway” is their contribution to road songs and it’s a very good one. It should get everyone up dancing and yelling when their town comes up. Nice harp from Lerman. “Flavour of the Year” & “Wake Up” are other highlights. There are a couple of CD Release Parties: Timothy’s Pub at 344 Brown’s Line in Etobicoke on October 10th and at The Harp & Crown, in Pickering at 300 Kingston Road on Saturday, October 17th. Find out more at www.theblazers.net

Alec Fraser fund - $5.00 from The Blazers CD sold in October. Alec engineered & co-wrote on RED HOT - October 1, 2009

Good day, hope all is well.

We'd like to help out.

Alec Fraser helped us out so much this past summer with great advice and support when we recorded our debut album with Jack de Keyzer, Alec engineered, co-wrote and played on the song “Wake Up” on our new RED HOT album and Alec even told me to bring the video camera and video taped a video for us and offered to edit it...we sincerely appreciated everything he did for us, it was very cool of him to do :)

So it’s time to give back in his time of need, The Blazers are donating $5.00 to Alec Fraser (who is recovering from a serious illness and we’d like to help with medical expenses) from every album we sell at our 2 CD release parties and also $5.00 from every album we sell in the month of October. We’ve sold over 20 CD’s so far before the official release and we hope to sell many more. Details @ http://www.TheBlazers.net If you don't know Alec Fraser, he is a veteran blues, rock and country bass player and vocalist. He has produced 3 Juno award winning albums and played with Jeff Healey, Danny Marks, Ben E. King, Bo Diddley, David Wilcox...the list goes on. He has also won multiple Juno and Maple Blues awards for his productions. Alec is a genuinely good person and a highly respected musician.

The band recorded and co-wrote with 3 JUNO AWARD winners - Take listen to our 4 of our new tunes @ http://www.TheBlazers.net
*Jack de Keyzer - Producer - plus played on 5 tracks with us.
*Alec Fraser - Engineer (former Bass player with Jeff Healey, David Wilcox and many more, now w/Jerome Godboo & Broken Joe)!
*Al Lerman - Sax and Harmonica - leader of the 2 x Juno winning band FATHEAD.
